Leopard cubs born at zoo
The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium is excited to announce the birth of three leopard cubs. This is the first time in the zoo's history that leopard cubs have been born.
The cubs, two females and one male, were born on December 12th to mother Layla and father Bashir. The cubs are currently being hand-reared by zoo staff as their mother is not taking care of them.
Zoo staff are working hard to ensure that the cubs thrive and grow strong. So far, they are doing well and are already starting to explore their surroundings.
Leopards are native to Africa and Asia and are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. They face threats from habitat loss, poaching, and conflicts with humans.
The birth of these three leopard cubs is therefore a significant event for the zoo and for conservation efforts. It is hoped that the cubs will help to raise awareness of these beautiful animals and the threat they face in the wild.

Woman attacked by leopard in wildlife park
A woman has been attacked by a leopard at a wildlife park in southern India.
The woman, who has not been named, is believed to have suffered serious injuries in the attack which took place at the Mysore Zoo yesterday evening.
She was rushed to hospital for treatment following the incident.
Officials from the zoo said that they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and that leopards are known to be among the most dangerous animals housed there.
Leopard spotted in back yard of suburban home
For Lisa and her family, it was just an ordinary day. They were all in the backyard, enjoying the sun and each other's company. That is, until Lisa's daughter caught a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye.
"Mom, what's that?" The little girl asked, pointing at a large leopard calmly sitting in a tree nearby.
At first, Lisa didn't believe her daughter. She thought it must have been some kind of trick of the light or maybe even a hallucination. But as she looked closer, she could see that it was definitely a leopard up in the tree. And it wasn't alone - there were several other leopards casually lounging around in their backyard!
Lisa and her family were understandably scared by this unexpected turn of events. They quickly went into the house and called animal control to come and take the leopards away. It was only after they had been safely removed from the property that Lisa and her family realized how lucky they had been. If the leopards had decided to attack them instead of just sitting around lazily, they would have been in serious danger!
This incident is just another example of how animals can unexpectedly show up in suburban neighborhoods. So if you happen to see a deer walking down your street or a bear raiding your trash cans, don't be too surprised! These creatures are adapting well to life near human settlements and are becoming increasingly common sights in towns and cities all over North America.
Leopard sunning himself on a rock in the African savannah
The leopard is one of the most feared predators in the African Savannah, but this leopard seems unperturbed by our presence. He's taking a break from hunting, sunning himself on a warm rock.
Leopards are the smallest of the "big cats," but they are still agile and powerful. They can take down prey that is larger than themselves, including antelope and zebras.
While leopards used to be found throughout Africa and Asia, their range has been reduced in recent years. They are now listed as "vulnerable" by the IUCN. This leopard is lucky to have a safe place to rest in the heart of thisprotected wildlife area.
